The Konima
Institute

About

A Sierra Leone literacy nonprofit rooted in story, dignity, and youth voice.

The Konima Institute operates out of Freetown to improve literacy, provide educational resources, and create spaces where young people can experience the magic of stories while building confidence in their own ideas.

What We Believe

  • Literacy is a fundamental human right.
  • Every young person deserves the chance to express themselves creatively through writing.
  • Young people should be encouraged to indulge their curiosity, read broadly, ask questions, and explore ideas.
